The Bandera boys track and field team had seven athletes qualify for the area track and field meet today in Wimberley, headlined by four second place finishes at the District 26-4A track and field meet in Canyon Lake late last week.
Sophomore Breydan Gherman qualified in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash. Gherman posted an 11.06 in the 100m to finish second, and posted a 22.19 in the 200m to finish third. Senior Samuel Snavely placed second in the 400m run with a time of 51.14, and also qualified in the 4x400m relay alongside Colton Boyd, William Vidmer and Ruben Ruiz-Palacios.
The 4x400m relay team placed 4th at district, posting a time of 3:32.78.
In the field events portion of the meet, senior Roman Rigelsky advanced to area with a second-place finish in discus (138-9). Senior Gavin Spruell placed second in shot put as well (44-3.25).
The Bulldogs will travel to Wimberley today for the area track and field meet, with a chance to qualify for the UIL Class 4A Region IV meet at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville on April 18-19.
“Our kids competed hard and earned every opportunity they have to continue their season this week,” Bandera head coach Cole Hicks said. “I’m proud of the way they represented Bandera and excited to see them compete at the area meet.”
