Utopia man dies in car crash

Authorities have released the names of the drivers involved in a collision that took the life of a Utopia man last Thursday.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Deon Cockrell, the preliminary investigation indicates that on April 10, at approximately 2:02 p.m., Andrew J Uzdavines, driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma, pulled onto Hwy. 16 in Bandera from a private drive, and collided with a southbound 2019 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by Pct. 1 Commissioner Troy Konvicka.
As a result of the crash, Uzdavines, 78, of Utopia, was pronounced deceased on scene. No serious injuries were reported for Konvicka.
Bandera County Sheriff Josh Teitge said the Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control and security, and DPS is conducting the investigation, which is ongoing.
