Medina celebrates seniors

By Lindsey Kunz
Medina ISD Superintendent/Athletic Director

Medina Senior softball and baseball players were honored before their games on Tuesday, April 15. Those honored include Hallie Kunz, Brooke Mancha, Ahnika Grassie, Hattie Barton, Keyshla Roman-Colon, Charles Baker and Cody Swinney.
Following the festivities, the Bobcats took to the field to take on the visiting Yellowjackets from Menard. This contest would decide the District Championship and the Bobcats were determined. When “ballgame” was called, the Medina Bobcats had earned a 9 to 4 victory and sealed the District Championship for the fifth year in a row.  Sophomores Davis Peterson and Cooper Arnold each batted in two runs to aid the offense with junior Holland Cook compiling 2 hits. Peterson was also the winning pitcher in the game striking out 10 Menard batters.  Freshman JT Kunz came in in the 7th in relief striking out two in the save.
Both Medina softball and baseball have a bye in the first round of the state playoffs. Softball will begin their playoff run on May 1, while baseball will enter the playoffs on May 8, 9 or 10.
