Fatal crash claims life of Bandera teen

On Sunday, May 25, at approximately 1:40 a.m., TX DPS Troopers responded to a fatal crash involving two vehicles on Hwy. 173.
According to a report from 6C Special Duty Trooper Dila Hidalgo, a white Chevrolet Camaro was traveling south on Hwy. 173, and a blue Kia Flex was traveling north on Hwy. 173. Hidalgo reported the Camaro crossed into the northbound lanes and struck the Kia head on.
The driver of the Kia, a 19-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Camaro, a 22-year-old male, was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
The driver of the Camaro “was found to be impaired; however, he was not taken into custody due to his crash-related injuries. Charges for Driving While Intoxicated and Intoxication Manslaughter will be filed at large,” Hidalgo reported.
The crash investigation remains active and ongoing.
