The 29th annual Pet Parade is set for Friday, July 4, at the Bandera City Park. Pets of all sizes, breeds and species are invited to attend and dress up in creative costume. From horses to fish, anything that can be lead, ridden or carried is welcome.
“This is a great community event that everyone can come to and have a lot of fun the morning of the 4th. We have people of all ages both competing and watching all the festive pets. It's hard to tell who is having the most fun - the young kids or the ‘young at heart,’” Cowboy Capital Pet Assistance League volunteer Karen Hensley said. “One of our contestants is only 90 and getting this year's entry ready to win in the category she's entering.”
Categories include Star Spangled Honors, Best of the Wild West, Look-A-Like, Most Talented Pet, Most Original, and Favorite Storybook Character.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., judging is at 9:30 a.m. and the parade starts at 10 a.m. Admission to the park is free for Pet Parade participants and spectators.
