Bulldogs shine in first scrimmage against Mustangs

Recap by Nick Salas
Bandera ISD Athletics

The Bandera Bulldogs kicked off the 2026 season with a strong performance in their first scrimmage against the Natalia Mustangs. The Bulldogs scored twice to the Mustangs one score.
The Bulldog offense wasted no time getting on the board, with Juan Cabrera scoring the first touchdown of the game with a strong run up the middle behind the strong Bulldog O-Line. Later, Dalton Parks extended the lead with the second touchdown, solidifying the Bulldogs' offensive power.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs were equally impressive. The defensive line held strong, applying consistent pressure, while the defensive backs were able to shut down the Mustang's passing game. Defensive standout Caleb Tippit led the way, making several key plays that stalled Natalia's drives.
The team's overall performance showcased the hard work and dedication from the off-season, but there’s still work to be done. The Bulldogs will have their second scrimmage Thursday, Aug. 21, when they face off against SA Burbank. The first regular season game is scheduled for Sept. 4, in Poteet, against the Poteet Aggies.
If you can’t make the trip out to Poteet or Burbank. You can get your first look at the Bulldogs in their home opener on Sept. 5, as they take on the Ingram Warriors.
