Open House scheduled in response to proposed CPS and AEP Texas transmission line routes through Bandera County

Open Houses have been scheduled by concerned area community groups and landowners in response to proposed transmission line routes that may cut through the Hill Country. The purpose of the meetings is to assist people who would like to submit feedback, comments and concerns before the Sept. 3 deadline.
CPS Energy and AEP Texas are proposing approximately 370 miles of new transmission infrastructure connecting the CPS Energy Howard Road Station in Bexar County/San Antonio to the AEP Texas Solstice Station in Pecos County/Ft. Stockton. The proposed Howard Solstice 765 kV Transmission Line Project is intended to connect substations to support the regional electric grid. Multiple potential routes are being evaluated, some of which pass through portions of Bandera County.
The Public Utility Commission of Texas approved the 765kV transmission option on April 24.
On Monday, Aug. 25, from 5 - 7:30 p.m., an Open House will be held at the Medina Community Library, 13948 Hwy. 16, Medina. On Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 4 - 7:30 p.m., an Open House will be held at the Utopia Senior Center, 22542 RM 187, Utopia.
The Bandera Canyonlands Alliance is coordinating efforts with landowner and conservation groups to help keep people informed, as well as involving elected officials at the local and state levels. The powerline project will be further discussed at the alliance fall meeting and BBQ, held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m.. The meeting will be held at the Nature Conservancy’s Love Creek Preserve, between Medina and Vanderpool. The preserve headquarters are at 2725 Elam Creek Road, Medina.
