A public hearing on the county’s proposed budget and tax rate for the next fiscal year will be Thursday, Aug. 28. The current tax rate is $.5195 per $100 valuation; the proposed tax rate is $.5304. The revenue increase will total approximately $600,000, the lowest revenue increase in three years, Bandera County Judge Richard Evans said.
“We have reduced the tax rate for four years in a row,” Evans said, adding the school tax levy was reduced, which increased the county’s responsibility.
Following the public hearing, the court is expected to vote on and adopt the tax rate and budget and ratify the property tax increase reflected in the budget. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
