Volunteers gather to keep Bandera County beautiful

By Karen Koerner
Special to the Prophet

Dozens of volunteers will be honored Sunday for their efforts to pick up trash from county roadsides, clear junk and trash from the yards of the elderly or infirmed, and recycle plastic, aluminum cans and cardboard. And Don’t Make Waste Bandera (DMWB) invites other residents to join them as volunteers keeping our county clean and beautiful.
Everyone with an interest in volunteering is invited to the volunteer appreciation and recruitment event, on Sept. 21, from 3-6 p.m., at the Silver Sage Hill Country Resource Center, 803 Buck Creek Drive, in Bandera. Appetizers and refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. Donations are always welcome to help support DMWB, a public charity.
Volunteer opportunities will be detailed at the gathering, including a range of time commitments and types of activity. These include:
  • Yard Cleanups for elderly and disabled residents building junk or trash in their yards;
  • Road Cleanups for groups who want to adopt a two-mile road segment;
  • Recycling center screening at the county dump sites next to Mansfield Park and in Lakehills.
  • volunteers in areas like fundraising and social media.
Everyone with an interest in keeping Bandera County clean and beautiful is welcome to attend this event. Learn more at www.DMWB.net, or email the organization at [email protected].
