Bandera County commissioners approved the installation of a plaque commemorating LeStourgeon Masonry for stone and block work on the Justice Center building. The request was brought by Cecil LeStourgeon, who did the stone work on the county building in 2009.
“I have had the plaque for eight years, just never got around to it,” LeStourgeon said. “I’m 89 years old. I figured I’d better get to it.”
The first rock work completed by LeStourgeon Masonry in Bandera County was in the early 1900s, Bandera County Judge Richard Evans said. LeStourgeon has since used his craftsmanship on several buildings, including BEC, the monument in front of the courthouse, Heritage Park, and the Bertha Tryon/Hendrick Arnold Cemetery.
In other business, commissioners approved a $11,268 change order to AR-6 Construction & Engineers for roof repairs on the 1877 courthouse.
Pct. 3 Commissioner Jack Moseley said all the interior beams need to be attached to a support, not replaced. He said the wood is not decayed, but rather warped in the middle because of the weight of the cypress decking.
