New ‘Life After Loss’ support group at Nagel Clinic
The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic is starting a new support group, Life After Loss, to help people who are grieving find comfort, support, and healing.
The group will meet for four consecutive Thursdays, beginning Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Clinic. Each session will include discussion, teaching and hands-on activities to guide participants through the grieving process.
Led by Maria Monte, LPC, bilingual counselor for the Nagel Clinic, the sessions will cover topics such as the physical, emotional and spiritual effects of grief, how to use memories in healing, self-care, coping with holidays and anniversaries, and planning for the future.
The support group is open to the public and limited to 12 participants. A suggested donation of $5 will help cover materials. To receive the full benefit, participants are asked to attend all four sessions: Oct. 23, Oct. 30, Nov. 6, and Nov. 13.
“This program is for anyone who has experienced loss — whether of a family member, spouse, or other loved one,” Monte said. “Grief is a journey, but no one has to walk it alone.”
To reserve a place in the group, call Susan Broa at the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic at 830-796-3448 ext. 4.
