Bandera 8th grade Lady Bulldogs defeat Carrizo Springs Lady Cats
By BMS Girls Coaching Staff
Bandera ISD 7th & 8th Grade Volleyball
The Bandera 7th grade B volleyball team split their two sets with Carrizo Springs. The Bulldogs lost the first set 21 to 13, but came back strong in the second set, winning 22 to 13. (Carrizo Springs puts a time limit on B team matches and only allows 2 sets.) This was the Bulldogs second time to face the Wildcats. Carrizo Springs has several dominant servers, but this time, the Dogs were ready to return the hard serves. Hailey Perry, Madeline Anderwald, Evelyn Kinsey and Kaiya Raab all did a fantastic job returning the ball to the Wildcats' side of the court. The Bulldogs have made huge improvements.
The 7th grade A team volleyball team started off strong against Carrizo Springs but lost both sets 26-24 and 25-10. The entire team showed growth all over the court. From limited serves missed, communication and hustle plays. Kenzie Campbell had a great passing and serving game. Abigail Wright was swinging at everything set to her! Aces: Kenzie Campbel:l 2 aces. Marlene Tetzlaff: 2 aces. Lila Hicks: 1 ace. Abigail Wright: 1 ace. Harper Word: 1 ace.
The 8th Grade B Team traveled to Carrizo Springs and showed up ready to dominate. The girls played two 12-minute halves and beat the clock in both games, winning 25–9 and 25–5. Their teamwork and focus were on full display from the very first serve. Vanessa Gonzalez was an absolute serving machine, racking up 10 serves in each set to keep the pressure on Carrizo Springs. The Bulldogs played with energy, confidence, and heart!
The 8th Grade A Team traveled to Carrizo Springs Monday night. Carrizo was out for revenge and wanted nothing more than to stop us from taking the win, but we had some really great volleyball played by our girls and all of their hard work is shining through. As we worked on communication and transitioning we defeated the Lady Cats in two sets 26-24 and 25-22. Stats recorded: were Harper Hartsfield with 4 digs, 1 kill and 2 assists. Natalie Hauer with 3 digs. Haisley Wright with 1 kill. Karina Young with 1 dig. Sydney Bowman with 1 ace and 1 dig. Hailee Feller contributed 1 ace and served 7 points. Kaycee Putney had 1 dig. Harper Hicks with a strong 3 aces, 14 points, 1 dig and 2 kills. Colbie Lalanne also had 1 ace and 3 assists. Emily Short added 1 kill. Brenna Byrd also served up 3 aces and 11 points, 3 digs and 1 kill. Mika Gray put up 2 digs.
We continue to grow more individually and as a team as we prepare to take on the Uvalde Lady Lobos, Monday, Oct. 20, here in Bandera.
