Low-cost spay neuter clinic announcement for cats and dogs of Bandera County

A Doggie 4 You was extremely grateful for our community’s support during The Big Give SA in September. Because we met the two matching grants, we have a big announcement to make. We are thrilled to announce a significant expansion of our mission with the purchase of a building for a new low-cost spay-neuter clinic.
A low-cost spay and neuter clinic has been a dream of our founder Patricia Godkin and its board. We have struggled with figuring out how to make this a reality. The first step, the clinic building, is now almost here.
For the last three months, A Doggie 4 You has been working behind the scenes with Saving Shelter Strays and Save Protect Care for Animals (San Antonio Great Dane Rescue) to make this a reality. We also have the support of Animal Companions, Sierra's K9 Rescue and Rehab, and the Animal Welfare Society of Bandera County with our endeavor. Our six Bandera County based 501 c3 non-profit rescues already work closely together and are dedicated to making this a success for our Bandera County community.
The 64’ x 24’ clinic building is set to be moved between Oct. 28 and Nov. 7, marking a huge step forward in the fight against pet overpopulation. This move directly addresses the core issue of too many homeless dogs and cats in the area.
Our rescue coalition believes that focusing on affordable spay and neuter services is the most effective way to save lives.
"We can't rescue our way out of this; we must have spay and neuter services available that are affordable for low-income individuals. They need healthy pets too,” A Doggie 4 You founder Pat Godkin said.
The new clinic, which will be located in Pipe Creek, will provide a much-needed resource for the community by offering accessible and affordable spay and neuter surgical services that will ultimately reduce the number of animals entering shelters. By tackling the problem at its root, the organizations can continue to work toward their goal of promoting spay/neuter education, rescuing dogs from kill facilities, and finding loving homes.
We still have a lot of work to do. We need to trench ditches to hook up our water and electrical services. We will also need to install a septic tank for the clinic. The inside of the building needs walls built for the surgical suites and vet exam rooms. We also need significant funds for purchasing the expensive surgical equipment.
We are looking to our community for help in supporting this much-needed clinic. If you, your business or organization would like to help donate your services, equipment, supplies or funds for community endeavor, please leave a message at 830-796-8269. Our Board Secretary Donna Witt will return your call as she is coordinating all spay/neuter clinic volunteer renovation activities. Please do not leave messages asking for spay/neuter appointments. We will have a dedicated number for appointments in the future.
