Meet the Texas Master Naturalist, Hill Country Chapter
Meeting set for Monday, October 27

Contributed

The public is invited to attend a talk sponsored by the Texas Master Naturalist, Hill Country Chapter in Kerrville, on Monday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.
This year, perhaps more than in years past, we have become acutely aware of who we are and how we are able to help our local communities as trained volunteers by offering our service in ways that those without the same knowledge and availability may be less able to do. This month we will highlight how we operated in the past and the decisions we make that created the chapter we know today, including the many volunteer service opportunities in which we have been involved, those who led us in the past, and members who other members believe should be recognized for their contributions to our chapter.
Chapter Vice President Dr. Phil Youngblood worked as a research biochemist in the 1970s after earning a degree in the field. He then joined the U.S. Navy, met his wife Deb there when they were both earning their first graduate degrees, and retired in the 1990s, whereupon he began a second full career as a university professor in the fields of computer science and cybersecurity. Before retiring from full-time teaching in 2020, Youngblood earned a PhD in Education, then followed Deb's lead by certifying as a Texas Master Naturalist with the 2021 class.
There is no charge to attend. The talk will be held at the Guadalupe Basin Natural Resources Center, 125 Lehmann Drive, Suite 100 in Kerrville. Online attendance via Facebook livestream and Zoom are also available. If you wish to attend via Zoom, please pre-register using this link:

Doors will open at 6 p.m., with light refreshments served. Starting at 6:30 p.m., the chapter will hold its monthly business meeting, with the presentation by Youngblood beginning at 7 p.m.
