For the month of November, Lakehills Area Library is featuring longtime Pipe Creek resident and Digital Print Painting Artist Susan Reiche.
At the age of 50, Reiche began studying art history in Singapore and she became fascinated by how to create art. After studying with master Chinese brush painters and taking classes at the Nanyang University of Art, she developed a unique vision to her paintings.
When Reiche turned 70, due to medical reasons, she was no longer able to stand at her easel to create watercolors, oils, and acrylic paintings. It was her husband Bob who encouraged her to paint by using a digital painting program (Procreate) and her iPad.
She discovered that painting on a screen was much like painting an oil on canvas, but she could do it from her “easy chair.” Her paintings are printed on canvas, using pigments guaranteed not to fade for 100 years. She uses materials that are museum quality, and her framing are wooden frames created by her husband.
Her work will be on display in the library until Nov. 24.
**In the library’s display case are samples of Susan’s Nail Art, she creates her own hand moldings and creates and designs these sets of reusable acrylic nails. You can contact her if you would like a custom-made set of nails for a special occasion or holiday at 830-688-1973.
