Bulldogs secure thrilling overtime victory for first district win

By Bandera ISD Athletics

The Bandera Bulldog basketball program traveled to Canyon Lake this past Friday, headlined by a resilient Varsity performance that earned the team its first district victory of the season in a 57-48 overtime thriller.

Varsity: OT Surge Leads to Victory The Bulldogs controlled the tempo for the majority of the contest behind a disciplined performance from the starting five. Despite a last-second three-pointer from the Hawks that forced overtime, Bandera responded with a dominant extra period. Senior James Bower led the charge with 15 points, followed by Jeffry Thomas (12), Anden Tentis De Grote (10), Riley Moran (8), and Cooper Franklin (7). The Bulldogs’ ability to take care of the basketball and execute down the stretch proved to be the difference maker.

Junior Varsity and Freshman Highlights The JV Bulldogs displayed remarkable grit in a game defined by adversity. After three players fouled out late in the contest, the Bulldogs were forced to finish the game with only four players on the court. Despite the disadvantage, the team continued to compete at a high level.

The Freshman squad also turned in a competitive performance, falling just eight points short. Jackson Bower led the offense with 17 points, earning praise from Coach Silone for the team’s defensive intensity and relentless effort until the final buzzer.
