Lady Bulldogs show resilience in district opener, Rynarzewski records 22 saves over two matches

By Coach Aidan Keane
Bandera ISD Athletics

The Bandera Lady Bulldog soccer team demonstrated remarkable grit and growth this past week, battling through a tough non-district road test before hosting their home district opener against Fredericksburg.
Non-District Action: Bandera vs. Davenport Facing an aggressive Davenport Wolves squad, the Lady Bulldogs leaned on their veteran core to maintain composure. Midfielders Maddie Garza, Sabrina Verhey, and Jessa Haws were instrumental in battling for possession, while freshman Paisley Campbell emerged as a persistent offensive threat. Goalkeeper Emma Rynarzewski anchored the defensive effort with eight critical saves, keeping the Bulldogs competitive throughout the match.
District Opener: Bandera vs. Fredericksburg On Friday, January 30th, the Bulldogs opened district play at home against Fredericksburg. The backline, led by Katja Ramirez, Sienna Collazo, and Sabrina Verhey, neutralized Fredericksburg’s open-play attack for the majority of the night. Fredericksburg was able to capitalize on two first-half set pieces to take the lead, but the Bulldogs surged back in the second half.
The momentum shifted when Kaylee Fried delivered a clinical through ball to Paisley Campbell, who found the back of the net for the Bulldogs’ lone goal. Emma Rynarzewski turned in a standout performance in goal, recording 14 saves to keep the contest within reach until the final whistle.
