Sign dedicated at Bertha Tryon-Hendrick Arnold Cemetery
The Bandera County Historical Commission unveiled an interpretive history sign at the Bertha Tryon-Hendrick Arnold Cemetery on Saturday, Feb. 28.
As he has been during the last several events recognizing the historic cemetery, Poet DaRell Pittman was a special guest, as well as Buddy Tryon, Bertha Tryon’s dedicated husband.
“The rubble hill at the back of the cemetery, marked by three crosses, contains the remnants of the old city jail,” Larry Jackson said. “Two weeks ago, Cecil LeStourgeon made the platform where the two-sided plaque is mounted. Years ago, he also created the stone fencing that surrounds the cemetery using the same stones from the demolished jail house.”
