Appraisal Review Board Member Applications Accepted
Notice is hereby given that applications are being accepted for members of the Appraisal Review Board (ARB), for Bandera County to serve a one-year term beginning January 1, 2026, and ending December 31,2026 or a two-year term beginning January 1, 2026, and ending December 31,2027.
The ARB is a citizen board of Bandera County residents that sits as a 5-member panel to hear testimony and review evidence to determine property owner protests which cannot be resolved by the appraisal district staff. This is a broad and important responsibility, but the ARB must be sensitive to its legal and practical limitations.
It is a separate body from the appraisal district and has no role in the day-to-day operations of the appraisal office or in appraising property. Members are not employees of the appraisal district and are not eligible for benefits by virtue of their review board service.
Typically, this is a full-time commitment during the peak hearing season from May through October. You must be available for mandatory training and meetings between March and April. The peak season will require your availability from Monday – Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (typically). Although you may not be scheduled for hearings every day, ARB members must be available to serve when called. Most property owners opt for in-person hearings, conducted at the Bandera CAD building located at 1206 Main Street – Bandera. Others prefer having their hearings remotely from their homes or offices. Therefore, you will be required to serve in person at the Bandera CAD office.
If you are confident that you can meet this demanding schedule and posses the qualifications below and believe that you can reach decisions based solely on the evidence presented before you in each hearing, please submit the completed application to the Bandera Central Appraisal District at 1206 Main Street – P.O. Box 1119, Bandera, Texas 78003. Application for service may be obtained from the Bandera Central Appraisal District office at 1206 Main Street, Bandera, Texas, or from its website www.bancad.org. Once the application is received, it will be submitted to the local administrative district judge for consideration. Selected members will be notified by the ARB Coordinator after selection.
Your interest in this important civic duty is greatly appreciated.
