City treasurer announces resignation, citing ‘shift in council’s priorities’

Prior to council convening in closed session, City Treasurer Allyson Wright submitted her official letter of resignation.
“Thank you for your service. You’ve done a fine job…you’ve been a dedicated employee,” City Council Member Lynn Palmer said following Wright’s announcement this evening.
Wright began her career with the City of Bandera seven years ago, rising to the position of treasurer in 2022. In her letter, she wrote:
“Please consider this my official resignation as City Treasurer, effective 5/15/26.
Reflecting on my seven years with the City, I am sincerely grateful for the opportunities I have had to grow professionally and personally. It has been a privilege to serve this community, and I take immense pride in the milestones we have achieved during my tenure. Most notably, I am proud to depart leaving the City with an unqualified audit and zero findings.
However, it is with a heavy heart that I must move on. Over the past several months I have noticed a shift in council’s priorities, and these no longer align with what I see as being best for this City.
I want to ensure a smooth transition for the city during my remaining time. Please let me know how I can best assist in handing over my current projects and responsibilities.
I wish the staff and the citizens of Bandera nothing but the best.”
