Don’t Make Waste Bandera recognized as Silver Star Affiliate by Keep Texas Beautiful
Honored for strengthening community programs
Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide nonprofit that inspires and empowers Texans to improve their communities, has recognized Don’t Make Waste Bandera (DMWB) as a Silver Star Affiliate, a distinction recognizing strong community engagement and expanding local impact.
Silver Star status is awarded to affiliates that are strengthening their programs through additional initiatives, increased training, and a growing focus on measurable results and community involvement.

We are proud to celebrate those continuing to build and expand their impact,” said KTB Executive Director Sara Walters. “Silver Star Affiliates are gaining momentum by engaging volunteers, strengthening programs, and inspiring a shared commitment to a cleaner, greener future."
Across the state, organizations like DMWB make this work possible. In 2025, KTB affiliates engaged more than 100,000 Texans who contributed to over $4 million value of volunteer hours, based on the Independent Sector value of volunteer hours. DMWB played a key role in this effort, implementing programs that reduce litter, promote recycling, and enhance the local environment.
Over the past year, DMWB set its focus on three areas of keeping Bandera County clean and beautiful: collaborating with neighborhood associations for county roadside litter pick ups; working with neighborhoods in clearing junk and trash from yards of elderly or infirmed; and operating the county’s weekly recycling sites at Mansfield Park and Lakehills. In 2025, there were 461 volunteers who
participated in these events with a total of 2,945 volunteer hours recorded.
Silver Star recognition highlights affiliates that are going beyond foundational requirements to expand their impact. These organizations demonstrate strong community engagement through additional programming, continued training, and a commitment to tracking and reporting their results. Their work reflects meaningful progress and a growing investment in long-term community improvement.
KTB will recognize Silver Star communities during the 2026 Virtual Keep Texas Beautiful Conference May 12 -14.
