Youth rock band enters the local live music scene
In a rural county like Bandera, having 71 people come out just to hear a youth rock band play is a pretty big deal.
On Saturday, April 18, The Bad Bombs, a youth rock band made up entirely of Bandera County students ages 12–16, put on a free concert at Bandera High School and drew a crowd of 71 local supporters. The evening was centered entirely on live music, local talent, and the energy of the band. The concert was made possible through the support of family and friends of the band, which makes the turnout even more meaningful. It shows that people in Bandera County will support young musicians who are willing to work hard, take creative risks, and perform live.
Band members include Tessla Cox, Amelia Cesta, Tesher Weller, Dustin King, Davin Maloney and Cullen Maloney.
A special thank you goes to Bandera Middle School Head Band Director and Bandera High School Assistant Band Director Sam Huerta for his outstanding support of local students. He graciously opened the building, helped with setup, stayed to watch the performance, and helped load out equipment afterward. Three members of The Bad Bombs are students in the BISD music program, and his encouragement and support of young musicians deserves full recognition.
During the performance, the band rocked so hard they even blew out the speakers. With covers, originals and a packed setlist, The Bad Bombs proved something important: local talent can draw a crowd on music alone.
