Local teen named the 2026 San Antonio Express News Alamo City High School Sports Boys Adaptive Athlete of the Year
This week, Matthew Jeffery was awarded the San Antonio Express News Alamo City High School Sports Boys Adaptive Athlete of the Year for 2026.
A special insert covering the event will release June 14.
“This season has been tough as Matthew's been out of action since August due to some injuries. We're hopeful he'll be able to return to competition next year,” Phillip Jeffery said.
Last year, Matthew, who has limited range of motion and swims without the use of his arms due to a congenital condition Radial Dysplasia, was nominated for Youth Athlete of the Year, in partnership with Sports Illustrated, V Foundation, 3BRAND and Why Not You Foundation. He has set a goal to compete in the 2028 paralympics.
