Fridays at the Frontier Times Museum

The new school year is just around the corner, and the Frontier Times Museum is excited to launch a brand-new educational program for students - Fridays at the Museum. Designed with Bandera ISD students in mind—but free and open to all students—this weekly program offers hands-on learning experiences every Friday from noon to 2 p.m. throughout the school year.
Each Friday features a different educational activity centered on one of four rotating themes: Arts & Crafts, STEM, Social Studies and Language Arts. With something new every week, students will have countless opportunities to explore history and science and be creative in a fun and engaging environment.
The program is kicking off in August with an exciting lineup of activities:
Aug. 7 – Zine Workshop - Students will create their own miniature booklets, known as zines, and fill them with stories, artwork, comics, or any topic that sparks their imagination.
Aug. 14 – Trinket Exhibit - Using shoeboxes and a variety of small objects and keepsakes, students will step into the role of museum curators by designing their own miniature exhibits and learning how museums tell stories through artifacts.
Aug. 21 – Circle of Life and Food Webs - Young scientists will choose an animal, create a themed hat or headband, and work together to discover how each organism fits into the food web and food chain while learning about ecosystems and the interconnectedness of nature.
Aug. 28 – Historical Detective - Part mystery, part history lesson, this interactive activity challenges students to examine historic photographs, documents, and artifacts to uncover clues and determine who the items may have belonged to.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. One accompanying adult receives free admission with each participating child. The museum is located at 510 13th Street, Bandera. For a complete line-up of activities throughout the Fall, visit the museum’s website at www.frontiertimesmuseum.org.
Whether your child enjoys creating art, solving mysteries, exploring science, or learning about history, Fridays at the Museum offers something for everyone. Join us this August as we celebrate learning through hands-on discovery and make history come alive—one Friday at a time.
