Briefings from Bandera County Commissioners CourtHaving opened and evaluated five competitive sealed proposals for the Bandera County Annex building project, commissioners unanimously approved moving forward with a $7,347,777 bid from Tegrity Contractors.
Also, commissioners recognized National Telecommunicators Week, and voted down a proposed tax abatement for child care facilities. |
Clinic beyond hoppy with Bunny Run resultsCounting 102 entrants in Saturday’s Bandera Bunny Run/Walk 5K fundraiser benefitting the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic, organizer Susan Broa said participation more than doubled from last year.

Today in Texas History
On this day in 1842, Juan N. Seguín resigned as mayor of San Antonio. Seguín, a native San Antonian, was born in 1806; his father Erasmo was a prominent public figure who later served as alcalde. Juan fought in the Texas Revolution, escaping death at the Alamo when he was sent out as a courier shortly before the fall of the citadel.

Museum honors hometown artist Susie ShortThe Frontier Times Museum is celebrating a special Texas Heroes Hall of Honor this year by inducting nationally known watercolorist, Susie Short, as the lone 2024 inductee into the Hall of Honor. This year’s ceremony will be held on Friday, April 19, in conjunction with the exhibit opening of a retrospective of Susie Short Watercolors spanning 50 years of paintings.

Burn Ban liftedBandera County commissioners unanimously declined to adopt a countywide burn ban, allowing the previous ban to expire. Intermittent showers, morning mist and cooler days have lowered the drought index, which is hovering around 371 to 575.
