Local nonprofit plans mission trip to rural Guatemala, volunteers neededMadre y Niño, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes in rural Guatemala, is now accepting volunteer applications for its upcoming mission trip to the Petén region, specifically Laguna del Tigre, a remote rainforest bordering Mexico. The life-saving trip will take place from Sunday, March 9, through Saturday, March 15. The deadline to apply is Feb. 9.

City council funds Christmas tree and lights, appoints marshalIn the wake of a grassroots movement that blocked the Bandera Economic Development Corporation from giving the city $60,000 to pay for a Christmas tree and lights, City Administrator Stan Farmer said all costs have been covered.

Removal of road delineatorsI am assuming these delineators were placed to improve the vehicular and pedestrian safety and operation at this hwy. intersection. I also assume that through some mechanism, like a traffic study by TxDOT or the city, vehicular and pedestrian issues and needs were identified, and the delineators were placed to address these issues and needs.

Accredited food handlers course scheduled for Feb. 11, register by Feb. 7A food handlers course, accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services, is being offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Bandera County. The certificate is good for two years and is valid anywhere in Texas.
