2026 Bandera County Junior Livestock Show - Horse Division ResultsThe 2026 Bandera County Jr. Livestock Show was held Jan. 7-10. This year’s Horse Division winners were Lawson State - Junior High Point, Carey Reed - Horse Division Superintendent, Kaleia Langley - Cindy Kline Memorial Award Winner, Brooke Lee - Senior High Point.

On this day in 1839, Waterloo (soon to be renamed Austin) was approved as the new capital of the Republic of Texas. In 1836, Columbia (now West Columbia) had become the first capital of an elected government of the republic. It remained capital for three months. The city of Houston was then selected as a temporary capital until 1839.

Growing Up In BanderaIn the city park, just above the river near the dam area, there is a huge pecan tree that holds precious memories of time spent with the love of my life before we were married. Those conversations we had back then would involve breakups and makeups, along with planning our future. I can still feel the pain of some heartbreaks, as well as the joy of sharing love with someone I never imagined I would ever have to live without.

Bandera Bulldogs show resilience in pre-district clash against La GrangeThe Bandera Bulldog varsity basketball team (12-9) traveled to San Marcos for a high-stakes matchup against the 14-8 La Grange Leopards. In a back-and-forth battle that saw the Bulldogs fight within three points late in the game, Bandera ultimately fell 49-58.

Bandera Lady Bulldogs notch first district win
The Bandera Lady Bulldogs basketball team notched their first district win of the season Tuesday night with a 56-25 victory over the Canyon Lake Lady Hawks. The Bulldogs took control of the game early, recording 7 first quarter steals and jumping out to a 20-3 lead. By halftime, Bandera had extended its lead to 21 points, and the Bulldogs continued their dominance in the second half.
