The Medina Community Christmas will be Dec. 11, at 4:30 p.m., at the library. The library will be closed Dec. 24-27 for Christmas, and Jan. 1 for the New Year.
The library will open at 11 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 8, and close early at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

The Frontier Times Museum will host their 5th annual Dressed Flea Market and Art Sale on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the museum grounds. Originally set for Nov. 20 and 21, Mother Nature had other plans.

Group donates money to county for tractor purchase

Bandera County commissioners accepted an $8,000 donation collected to supplement the purchase of a tractor to be used at Mansfield Park. The group effort was organized by people who regularly use the arena, and suggested a larger series tractor with upgrades and accessories.

Each individual letter has value and provides strength, purpose and meaning when joined together and placed in proper order. However, when separated they are merely potential without purpose and when out of order they present nothing more than chaos and confusion.

The Lakehills Area Library has a new fundraising event coming in December. We are having a Goldrush! Bandera Jewelers Master Jeweler Jordan Marcum will be at the library on Monday, Dec. 8. Bandera Jewelers will donate half of their profits from both Monday and Tuesday to the library. Join us to support the library and earn some extra cash!

Lakehills Area Library artist of the month

Michael W. Tidwell is an award-winning artist, as well as a synthetic organic chemist in discovering and developing new drugs. Michael practices several photographic techniques which include modern digital photography, large format photography, and lightning photography. He also uses historical pre-film photographic methods dating back to before the Civil War, such as cyanotypes, salted paper, and gum bichromate.

Growing Up In Bandera

Unlike some of my neighbors, I was able to save my two pecan trees from any severe damage or death. The latest round of drought and water restrictions has been hard on some of us here in town. I experienced an expensive plumbing bill due to a shifting foundation causing an under slab leaking water line. There's lots of theories about so many of the oak trees dying in the area and I personally believe it is connected to a declining water table.

"On Dec. 3, 2021, our lives were changed forever, when our 24-year-old son was involved in a head-on collision. He was airlifted to BAMC that night, and began his fight for life. Although my son is not in the military, the amount of support he received from this wonderful group of folks has been humbling."
