Commemorating a century of non-stop service, the O.S.T. is the longest continuously-running restaurant in Bandera County, and one of the oldest in the state. Opened in 1921, the O.S.T. is celebrating its 100th birthday by saying thank you to the patrons who have helped make it an icon.

Maintaining a tradition that began on New Year’s Eve in 1999, more than 30 local cowgirls gathered for the annual Cowgirl Roundup on Saturday, Jan. 1.
Shell-ebrating the sea turtleOn Aug. 4, at 5:30 a.m., my family and I departed our hotel room and began our bleary-eyed trek to the Padre Island National Seashore. We left home the day before with the intent of grabbing a good night’s sleep in anticipation of an early morning. We aren’t hardcore adventurers nor members of the dawn patrol surfing circuit; we were instead in pursuit of a glimpse of palm-sized turtle hatchlings slowly make their way across the sand to frothy ocean waves.
