The Frontier Times Museum inducted nationally-known watercolorist Susie Short to the Texas Heroes Hall of Honor on Friday, April 19. She was the lone 2024 inductee. Last night was also the exhibit opening of her watercolor paintings spanning five decades.
Short grew up in Bandera, educated in Bandera public schools, was active in 4-H and competed annually in the junior livestock shows. Her accomplishments include numerous first and second place awards, a couple of best of show awards, and several honorable mentions.
She teaches watercolor classes and workshops throughout the United States with 15 instructional DVDs, available online along with many free instructional watercolor tutorials.
The exhibit, Colors in Symphony: A Retrospective of Susie Short, is on display in the Doane Western Art Gallery, and will be on view until July 15. The Frontier Times Museum is located at 510 13th Street, Bandera.
