Medina Lake almost at capacity

Nearly double where it was one year ago, Medina Lake is now 99.8 percent full. Local reports indicate water was seen flowing over the spillway as of this morning, however at 1,064.11 ft., according to Water Data for Texas, the water level falls a bit shy of the 1,064.50 ft. spillway crest elevation. But it's close.
On May 20, 2018, the lake was at 58.7 percent, and the mean water level was 1,044.18 ft. A far cry from five years ago, the lake dropped to 5 percent capacity during a drought that started in 2010. People were able to walk across the dry basin until heavy rains filled it up about halfway in 2015. Thanks to consistent rainfall in recent years, the lake has maintained its levels.
Also thanks to steady rain, there are no major drought concerns - for now. The county is in the clear according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. As of May 2, the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District filed with the county clerk no drought restrictions in effect for all residents.
