The Sage Stage

News from The Silver Sage

By Amy Dee Hawley

A lot is happening at Silver Sage. The building has been painted and looks great. Improvements and updates are going on and turning the facility into a more modern, comfortable place to enjoy the company of others.
New activities have begun including Bingo held on Wednesday and Friday afternoons at 1 p.m. The games are friendly with a lot of laughter. The prizes for the winners are not fancy but it is the thought that counts. There are no “dobbers,” prize money or pressure, just a group of adults wanting to have a good time. Mexican Train is played on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. This group also has a lot of fun with tons of laughter. If you would like to be a part of the enjoyment, come join the fun
Delicious meals are served between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The dining room is very clean, attractive and welcoming. The food is well prepared and you definitely get enough to fill you up. To find out what the daily meals are, go to the website www.SilverSageCorral.org, or stop by the center for a monthly newsletter.
When coming for lunch, please call before 9:30 a.m. to make a reservation.  The kitchen would like to know how many people to prepare for.
An AARP Smart Driver Course will be held at Silver Sage on Thursday, June 13, from noon to 4 p.m. This course is designed and available to seniors in the city of Bandera and surrounding areas.
Refresh your driving skills and knowledge of the rules of the road. Learn techniques for handling left turns, right-of-way and roundabouts. Also discover proven driving methods to help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road. It does not fulfill requirements for court ordered Defensive Driving.
Cost for the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Upon completion, participants may be eligible to receive an auto insurance discount. Please contact your insurance representative for verification. To sign up, please call Silver Sage at 830-796-4969. For more information, call Randy Williams at 830-249-8130.
