Local youth compete in BRC series

The second of five Bandera Rodeo Club Summer Youth Series 2019 rodeos took place on Saturday at Mansfield Park. While the turnout was better than the first rodeo on June 8, the number of competitors was still lower than expected, but still made for some close competition.
Callie Kohlenberg continued her winning streak in both barrel events, setting fastest times in the 8-11 Cloverleafs and Straights. In spite of the fact she is one of the younger competitors, Kohlenberg was the only rider faster than 11 seconds in the Straights.
She also teamed up with Corbin Reat to gather a first place in Mixed Ribbon Tying.
Emily Grant and Alexis Adamietz won their age groups in Poles for the second time in two events and Brody Barker did the same in Goat Tying and Breakaway Roping.
Some of the classes had no times recorded, resulting in rollover money for the next rodeo on Aug. 10. Breakaway Roping will see that rollover in the 12-14 and 15-19 age groups as well as the 8-11 group in Tiedown Roping.
In the Bulls, Jessie Cardenas, who got bucked off in the first event, had a good ride to take a first in the 12-14 age group, the only group to cover, so there will be rollover money in the other three Bull classes for the next event as well.
The final three events in the series will take place on  Aug. 10, 17 and 24 at Mansfield Park and are free to the public.
Rodeo Books open at 7 a.m. and Bull books open at noon on the day of the rodeo with action starting at 9 a.m.
