BISD Advanced Academics Coordinator named

Stephanie Jones will take on an additional role in Bandera ISD as the new Advanced Academics Coordinator. Jones will assume the Advanced Academics coordinator position formerly held by Sarah Denny Verstuyft. Jones has taught at both Alkek Elementary School and Bandera Middle School, and she will continue as a classroom teacher at Bandera High School. 
Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University with an emphasis in Language Arts and and a Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University, as well as a Principal Certification from Angelo State University. Jones holds Texas Educator certifications in English Language Arts and Reading, English Language Arts and Reading/Social Studies, English as a Second Language, EC-6 Generalist, and Principal.
“I love teaching in my hometown and am thrilled about the opportunity to serve BISD in a new capacity. I look forward to growing our Advanced Academics programs, which include Advanced Placement, Pre-Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, and Gifted and Talented Education,” Jones said. 
“Stephanie Jones brings a depth of knowledge in curriculum and substantial leadership experience to her new position. She has a passion for learning and a long-standing relationship with the community,” BISD’s Chief Academic Officer Gary Bitzkie said.
Jones began her new role on Aug. 5.
