Julie Aguilar, whose pen name is Janalyn Knight, was at the Lakehills Area Library on Aug. 3, promoting her books and signing bookmarks.
Knight writes contemporary Western romance novels. Her first two books, Cowboy for a Season and True Blue Texas Cowboy, are available now as e-books from Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Apple iBook Store, Overdrive and her website.
Her third book, The Cowboy’s Fate, will be out in the fall as a hardcover book. It is the first in a new series, The Govain Cowboys Series. She plans on two more books in that series.
Knight is a Texas gal and has lived in Pipe Creek since 1975. She has two grown children and has been writing seriously for three years. Before that, she worked on honing her craft until now she is a popular, up and coming author who enjoys being published and connecting with her fans.
When asked what inspired her to write about the West and about romance, she said, “Well, I’ve always heard that you should write what you know.” And she would know about both. She grew up with horses and participated in rodeos. When she was older she worked on a 10,000 acre cattle ranch. She went on to marry a cowboy.
Now, as a divorced lady, she enjoys living on a 20 acre spread with her Australian Shepherd, Kelly, and taking care of her aging mom; all while writing her stories.
She wants people to know, “There are still cowboys in the world and cowboys make the best husbands. That’s why I write Western Romances.”
Her first two books are free and she encourages readers to give one of them a try. You can get them from her website at JanalynKnight.com. She can be reached by going to her web page and clicking on “Contact” and sending her a message. She can also be found on Facebook, Instagram and Goodreads under her pen name.
