With Fall’s arrival, things start hopping

LAKEHILLS LIBRARY
The library invites the public to attend the 20th anniversary reception at the library on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served. They will celebrate 20 years of serving our community and honoring all those who made it possible.
Because of the reception on the 7th, the library’s monthly book sale will be the following Saturday, Sept. 14, with special deals on all books.
The library will host the Community Garage Sale on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call or visit the library to reserve your booth now.
On Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the library will host Texas Writes, who will have an author’s panel discussion and workshop. It is for all interested in writing, it is free, and refreshments will be provided. Sign up now at the library.
The library will continue the Children’s Reading every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
Yoga is offered every Tuesday at 10:30. Bring a mat and water.

CHRISTIAN WOMENS JOB CORPS
The Job Corps will hold an open house on Friday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church of Bandera, located at 1300 Pecan St. The public is invited to meet the teachers and applicants and enjoy refreshments.
The next class session will begin Sept. 3, with graduation on Nov. 22.

AMERICAN LEGION
American Legion Post 410 is selling tickets for the drawing at their Centennial Celebration Dinner on Saturday, September 14, in the Legion Hall, one ticket for $10 and three tickets for $25. Winners do not need to be present to win.
The Centennial Celebration Dinner is for the community and is free of charge. All are welcome to enjoy a special meal and commemorate the Legion’s 100th birthday.
First Prize is a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta, valued at $2,000; Second Prize is an American Legion Centennial Coin Set, valued at $525; and Third Prize is a MasterCard Gift Card worth $250.
The Legion Post 410, located at 147 26th St. in Lakehills, is open to the public Fridays through Wednesdays, from 3-9 p.m., when they serve meals and provide entertainment for all ages. For information, call 830-751-3711.
LAKE AND RIVER
On Friday, Aug. 16, our Medina Lake level was 1062.27 feet. That is down 1.93 feet, which is 95.5 per cent capacity.
The Medina River had a flow of 24.7 cfs in Bandera, running 3.75 feet deep at the gage.
