Bandera County's Hill Country select baseball team took second yesterday at a 12-hour tournament in Natalia. In triple-degree temperatures, the boys climbed the bracket to the championship game, which the ump called with final score of 3-1.
West Cloudt, Jude Patino, Mack Keller, Kenai Jerome, Jackson Aragones, Payson Mangold, Aiden Alexander, West Cloudt, Evan Kline and Matt Engle played five games, the final championship game ending four minutes early at the umpire's discretion. One of the teams defeated competed at the Little League World Series, the tournament director said.
The boys, who have played together for several years in both Bandera County select and Little League, are coached by Allen Ottmers, Paul Mangold, Dwayne Keller and Brent Trussell.
