Job Corps welcomes students

The Christian Women’s Job Corps of Bandera County welcomed students and guests to the Open House last Friday, Aug. 23, in the First Baptist Church of Bandera, and Coordinator Aurora Williams announced there is room for a few more students. She encourages those women who would like to take advantage of this free education to contact the Job Corps right away to reserve their space in the next session, which begins Sept. 3.
The First Baptist Church of Bandera sponsors the Job Corps as one of its several ministries. While attendees were served light refreshments, Williams said they are introducing a new program. They are now offering three of their classes to anyone who wants to learn in those particular areas. The participants of these classes will get certificates for those classes but, not being registered for the Job Corps, they will not participate in the student graduation.
The public is invited to attend the Health & Nutrition Class on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. to noon; Money Management Class on Wednesdays, 1-2 p.m.; and the Raising Responsible Kids Class on Thursdays, 1-2:30 p.m.
Each session lasts 12 weeks and is free to adult women, providing “a Christ-centered environment that encourages spiritual, professional and personal growth.”
The Job Corps seeks additional teachers, sponsors, mentors and volunteers.
Donations are always welcome and, as a ministry of First Baptist Church, are tax deductible.
To sign up to attend any of these classes, contact the Job Corps at 830-326-1457 or [email protected]. For more information, go to the website at fbcbandera.com/cwjc.
