September workshops and birthday luncheon planned

By Amy Dee Hawley
Special to the Prophet

Silver Sage is hosting workshops each Wednesday during the month of September presented by the Alzheimer’s Association of San Antonio.
The topic for the Sept. 18 workshop is “Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research.”
Science is able to provide insights into how to make lifestyle choices that may help keep your brain and body healthy as you age. Hear about the research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and use hands-on tools to help incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging. The workshop is held in the Silver Sage Great Room and begins at 1 pm.
Two end-of-the-month activities will happen soon at the Center. The Birthday Potluck is the last Tuesday of each month and Sept. 24 is the day that all September birthdays are celebrated.
Please bring a covered dish to share. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. On the last Friday of each month, there is a most enjoyable event. The Ice Cream and Cake Social on Sept. 27 is a fun time to enjoy delicious desserts!  Come for lunch and then stay for the ice cream and cake which is usually served around 12:20 p.m. Both of these events provide great opportunities to make new friends, share laughs, enjoy delicious food and get out of the heat!
