LAKEHILLS LIBRARY
The library will host a Community Garage Sale on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tables and spaces are available now: Outside spaces 10x10 for $20; Porch spaces 8x10 for $25; Inside spaces 6x6 for $25; and tables for 10. Call or come by to reserve your table or space today.
The Writers Group will meet Thursday, Sept. 19, from 1-3 p.m. Special guest author Janalyn Knight will speak to the group and answer questions. Writers of all genres are welcome to attend.
The library will host a Texas Writes Workshop Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Authors Donna M. Johnson and Naomi Shihab Nye will lead the panel discussion and workshop. All interested in writing are welcome.

SENIOR SOCIAL
The Alamo Resource Conservation & Development Area, through its senior program, will hold a Senior Social on Friday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Faith Tabernacle, 7768 FM 1283. The theme is “Old School Days.” It includes games with prizes, door prizes, September birthdays and anniversaries celebration, and a catered lunch free for senior citizens and by donation for others. For lunch, RSVP by Sept. 18 by calling or texting 210-548-9248.
CIVIC CENTER
The Cajun Festival is looking for volunteers to help with preparing food now and working at the festival on Sept. 28. Volunteers can work two-hour shifts and get free admission to the festival and free drinks while there. To volunteer, call 830-751-2727 or email [email protected].
PIPE CREEK COMMUNITY CENTER
The center will have its annual meeting Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. in the center, located at 10162 Hwy. 16 S, in Pipe Creek. For more information, call Eva Evans at 210-273-8079.
PIPE CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The P. C. Presbyterians will hold a Market Day on Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the church grounds at 8589 Hwy. 16 S, Pipe Creek. In addition to the many vendors and the bake sale, they will have a Chili Cook-Off and are actively seeking participants. To compete, call Chris at 210-391-1629.
AMERICAN LEGION
The American Legion Post 410 has a new address, but at the same place. Located at 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, it is open to the public Fridays through Wednesdays, from 3-9 p.m., when they serve meals and provide entertainment for all ages. For information, call 830-751-3711.
LAKE AND RIVER
The BMA opened the dam gate valves on Aug. 21 and the lake is going down quickly.
On Tuesday, Sept. 17, our Medina Lake level was 1059.81 feet. That is down 4.39 feet, which is 89.9 percent capacity.
The Medina River had a flow of 15.2 cfs in Bandera, running 3.57 feet deep at the gage.
