Scarlet Macaw steals the show
Margarita, a gentle Scarlet Macaw, was the star of the Lakehills Area Library’s Community Garage Sale on Sept. 21. She was ably assisted by Armando Mendez, President of We Care Wildlife Sanctuary, where she resides. Although the sanctuary is nine years old, it was originally situated in Florida and moved to Lakehills two years ago.
The sanctuary’s website is wecarewildlifesanctuary.com and they welcome volunteers. As a non-profit organization, all monetary donations are tax deductible.
The library was packed with vendors and visitors and the event was hosted by the Lakehills Genealogy Society. All the funds go to the library for the specific purpose of purchasing ancestry.com, which is free for the public to use at the library, 7200 FM 1283.
