LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
The Men’s Ministry is holding the annual Chicken BBQ on Sunday, Oct. 6 in the Mission Hall, 150 Ave. J in Lakehills. Serving begins at 11 a.m. and plates are $10 each.
All are invited to stay and shop the Trade Days; table rentals are available now. Call to reserve a space 210-884-9767.
The Lakehills Methodists have begun the TWIGS program again. It is for elementary school age kiddos every Monday on school days, 4-5 p.m. The youngsters get a Bible lesson and do crafts.
The church has revived their Bread of Life ministry, feeding the public every Monday on school days at 5 p.m.

AMERICAN LEGION
The American Legion Post 410 is holding an October Fest, complete with a Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 8:30 a.m. There are prizes and trophies for the first three places. There are also contests for Beans, Bloody Marys and Salsa, with prizes for the best of each. For more information, call 304-881-4485.
American Legion Post 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, it is open to the public Fridays through Wednesdays, from 3 p.m. They serve meals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and provide entertainment for all ages. For information, call 830-751-3711.
PIPE CREEK VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT.
The P. C. Fire Department is holding a brisket and/or sausage Barbeque on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the fire house, 1331 FM 1283, beginning at 11 a.m. Many of the raffle prizes are for hunters. The bake sale is always popular. This year will include vendor booths for your shopping pleasure.
PIPE CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The P. C. Presbyterians will hold a Market Day on Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the church grounds at 8589 Hwy. 16 S, Pipe Creek. In addition to the many vendors, bake sale, silent auction, and quilt raffle, they will have a Chili Cook-Off, with prizes for first, second and third places, and are actively seeking participants. To compete, call Chris at 210-391-1629.
The church has opened their Little Rock Cafe again, every Wednesday on school days, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Complete meals are $7 for adults and $3 for children.
LAKEHILLS LIBRARY
Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 the library hosts free story time for kiddos 2-5 years of age. It includes songs, games and crafts based in preschool curriculum. Children of all ages are invited for fun, learning and friendship.
The monthly Book Sale will be Saturday, Oct. 5, 10:30-2, with special deals.
The Genealogy group will meet Thursday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m., with free access to ancestry.com.
The library is located at 7200 FM 1283.

On Monday, Sept. 30, our Medina Lake level was 1059.13 feet. That is down 5.07 feet, which is 88.3 percent capacity.
The Medina River had a flow of 13.4 cfs in Bandera, running 3.53 feet deep at the gage.
