Bandera seniors accepted into U.S. Navy nuclear program
Bandera High School is pleased to announce that two senior students, Brandon Chafin and Byrl Cromwell, have been accepted into the U.S. Navy nuclear program.
Acceptance into this program is reserved for those students who have top honors on the ASVAB examination and meet all other physical and academic requirements. These students are considered so valuable to our nation's defense that they are offered a $40,000 signing bonus.
After basic training at Great Lakes, they will attend nuclear training in South Carolina and subsequently be assigned to operate the nuclear reactor on a navy submarine or carrier.
Again, these positions are so important to the Navy that a $100,000 bonus is offered for reenlistment.
This is a great honor for the families of Brandon and Byrl, as well as the many Bandera ISD teachers who have taught them along the way. They will both enter basic training just a few weeks after graduation.
Go Bulldogs and go Navy!
