Gingerbread House contest hosted by Bandera General Store
By Jessica Goode
The Bandera Prophet
Ushering in this year’s holiday season, the Bandera General Store is hosting its first annual Gingerbread House contest. All entries must be delivered to The General Store on Main Street on Thursday, Dec. 19, no later than 5 p.m.
Contest entries will be judged at noon on Saturday, Dec. 21.
The rules are as follows: structures may be houses, barns, birdhouses or other imaginative dwellings. All entries must be homemade, though kits are permitted. Everything on the gingerbread house must be edible, so that means no styrofoam or stickies that shouldn’t be swallowed. All entries must be on a wooden or cardboard base no larger than 18x18 inches.
Entries will be judged on overall appearance, creativity and degree of difficulty. Cash prizes will be rewarded for first through third place, $100, $50, $25, respectively.
Attach your name, phone number and email to the underside of the base. For more information call Glen at 512-426-1080.
