BEC Foundation awards $25,000 in community grants
Lakehills Little League Association receives $5,000 grant

Five nonprofit organizations within the Bandera Electric Cooperative service territory were recently awarded BEC Foundation grants through the Members’ Choice Contest.
The BEC Foundation board selected five of the nominated organizations based on its charitable giving guidelines and predetermined criteria. The five organizations were announced in early December, and members were given the opportunity to vote for the winning nonprofit organization via email.
The winning organization, Kendall County Women’s Shelter, received a grant for $10,000. The second and third place organizations, Lakehills Little League Association and Comfort Food and Pantry, each received a grant for $5,000, and the fourth and fifth place organizations, Frio Canyon Park Association and Real County Junior Stock Show and Rodeo Association each received a grant for $2,500.
“This contest helped The Foundation reach our goal of expanding the nonprofit organizations we contribute to, and allowed our members to play an active role in the grant process for their community,” said BEC Foundation Chairman Toba Wright. “We look forward to more opportunities where we can directly engage with the membership and make a positive impact within our service territory.”
The BEC Foundation commonly supports organizations through charitable contributions with a focus on health initiatives, education and youth programs, social services projects, and community services projects.
