Two-car collision kills one in Hwy. 16 construction zone

One person died yesterday in a two-car collision on Hwy. 16 in Pipe Creek. Miguel Quintero, Jr., 73, was killed after his vehicle collided head on with an RV motorhome.
According to DPS Trooper Scott Shinar, Quintero was driving southbound in the northbound lane on Hwy. 16 toward oncoming traffic in the construction area near Gunther Lane. His pickup struck the RV, driven by Eugene Walter Smith, 69, who was heading northbound toward Bandera.
Smith and his wife were transported by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries. They were released the same day.
Shinar said the investigation is ongoing.
