Time to think 'raffle'

LAKEHILLS AREA LIBRARY
Raffle tickets are now on sale for the annual Fundraiser Dinner and Auction to be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m., in the Lakehills Civic Center. There are two prizes: The first is a $500 Visa gift card; tickets are $5 each or six for $25. The second prize is a Howa Hogue Gameking Rifle/scope package in the caliber of your choice, donated by Boyle’s True Value in Bandera/Lakehills; tickets are $10 each or six for $50. The tickets can be purchased at the library, located at 7200 FM 1283.
The weekly Wednesday story time for the kiddos will resume on Jan. 8 at 10:30 a.m. It includes songs, games and crafts for pre-school youngsters.
The Genealogy Group will meet on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. It provides free access to ancestry.com and laptops are provided.
ALAMO RC&D
The next Senior Food Pantry is Friday, Jan. 10, from noon to 3 p.m. It is first come, first served, with a two bag limit per family.
The Fun & Fitness classes will resume every Wednesday, starting Jan. 8, from 11 a.m. to noon. No equipment is needed and it is low impact.
All Alamo RC&D events are held in Faith Tabernacle at 7789 FM 1283.
CHRISTIAN WOMEN’S JOB CORPS
The Christian Women’s Job Corps will begin their next session with an Open House and the public is invited. It will be held in the First Baptist Church of Bandera Youth Building, 1300 Pecan St., on Monday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m.
Refreshments will be served, tours given, and questions answered.

AMERICAN LEGION
The American Legion Post 410, 147 Legion Dr., Lakehills, will not be serving meals on Wednesday nights for a while. Their Wednesday cook must attend to some health issues.
However, the rest of their events remain unchanged: The Hall is open to the public Friday through Tuesday, from 3 p.m. On Tuesdays, hamburgers are served at 5 p.m. for $5; on Fridays, at 5 p.m., dinner plates are served for $8 and include entree, salad and dessert.
Darts, pool, TV and music are always available and Poker games are held Fridays at 7 p.m.
The funds from the meals go to the Legion and support the community events.

LAKE AND RIVER
On Monday, Jan. 6, Medina Lake is at 77.5 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1054.08 feet, which is down 10.12 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 20.8 cfs in Bandera, running 3.85 feet deep at the gage.
