The varsity Bulldogs got their second district win with a hard fought 55-52 win at Canyon Lake last Tuesday. The win came just four days after the Bulldogs first district win in almost two years.
Bandera jumped out to a 20-10 lead after one and took a 28-17 lead at the half.
The Hawks tried to fight back in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 35-27, but that early lead was enough to get Bandera the win.
The Bulldogs were looking to make a run into playoff contention as they hosted the Wimberley Texans on Friday. The Texans handed the Bulldogs an 85-41 whipping in the first round and Bandera was looking for some payback.
The Bulldogs suprised the Texans by hanging tough and trailing Wimberley by one, 20-19, after one.
The Bulldogs surged to a 36-33 lead at halftime, seemingly shaping things up for a good second half.
The Bulldogs came out flat in the third as Wimberley went on an 18 point run while holding Bandera scoreless to put the game away.
Both teams had single digit scoring in the fourth on the way to a 59-42 win for the visitors.
The Bulldogs still have an outside shot at making the playoffs but have a tough row to hoe to get there.
Bandera and Canyon Lake are tied for the fourth seed in District 28-4A play at 2-5.
The Bulldogs have the top two teams in district, Fredericksburg and Boerne, on the road back to back and finish the season with Llano at home.
Fredericksburg is 7-0 in district and 30-0 on the season and Boerne's only district loss was a close 56-53 OT decision to the Billies.
Canyon Lake has Llano tonight at home, Fredericksburg on Friday at home and close district with Wimberley on the road.
