Lakehills Library Leanings

By Vicki L. George
The Bandera Prophet

The Lakehills Area Library’s fundraiser on Feb. 8 exceeded their goals, grossing over $18,000. The monies raised will go a long way towards providing the programs our patrons have enjoyed for over 20 years.
The library thanks all the businesses and individuals who donated, and all the volunteers who worked, to make this fundraiser such a big success.
The raffles were a large part of that success. The VISA card was won by Maggie Conner and the gun was won by F. J. Brewerton, both local residents. Congratulations to both winners.
Watercolor artist Linda Laura is exhibiting her paintings during February in the library.
Laura has had several one-man shows locally and she has participated in the Western Art Show. She is a member of the Helotes Art Guild.
Laura lives in Pipe Creek and enjoys recording the beauty of the Hill Country with her colorful paintings. She can be reached at 210-378-5113 or gsgLL234@hotmail.com.
Storytime for the pre-school kiddos is every Wednesday at 10:30. It includes fun games, songs and crafts to stimulate learning and friendship.
The Lakehills Library Writers Group meets on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. All writers, of all genres, are welcome to come to learn, support each other, and hone their craft.
The Daytime Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 1-2 p.m. They will discuss Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf.
The Women’s Self Defense Class meets Saturday, Feb. 22, from noon to 2 p.m. It is for females only, 16 years and older and it is free.
The library is open Monday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located at 7200 FM 1283. The phone number is 830-510-2777. They can be found on Facebook.
