YOUR VOTE COUNTS
Primary Election Day, where each party selects their candidates for the November election, is today until 7 p.m. Each voter must vote in his or her own precinct. The Lakehills Area Library, 7200 FM 1283, serves Precinct 203 and the Lakehills Civic Center, 11225 PR 37, serves Precinct 204. The Pipe Creek Fire Department, 1331 FM 1283, serves Precinct 102.
AG WORKSHOP
The Texas Rural Cooperative and Alamo RC&D have partnered to present a workshop on Friday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Faith Tabernacle, 7789 FM 1283. The presentations are: Rural Cooperatives and You, with guest speaker Annelies Lottmann; 2018 Farm Bill Highlights for you, with a guest speaker; and 2018 Farm Bill and Our Seniors, with guest speaker Alma Aquirre.
Pre-registration is required at alamorcd.org. There will be a free light lunch for Alamo RCD Senior Assistance Program members; with a $10 fee to others.
The public is invited and the presentations are free.
COUNTY WIDE QUILT SHOW
The Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church, aka The Little Rock Church, 8589 Hwy. 16 in Pipe Creek, is hosting a county wide quilt show March 5 through 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Over 200 quilts from quilting groups across Bandera County will be on display only; none of the quilts are available for purchase.
There is no admission to view the quilts. However, there is a raffle for a king-size quilt made by the church’s quilting group, the Prayer Quilt Ministry. Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased from the ladies at the church. The group meets every Monday morning at 9:30. Tickets may also be bought at the show.
LAKEHILLS CIVIC CENTER
The Center invites the public to its annual Membership Drive and Dinner on Thursday, March 12, beginning at 6 p.m. with a Meet & Greet. Dinner will be served at 6:30 and includes brisket and beverages. They ask that attendees bring a side dish or a dessert. There will be a short business meeting after dinner and an election of officers. Memberships are $15 per person and renewed in March of each year. The Center is located at 11225 PR 37 in Lakehills.
PIPE CREEK FIRE DEPARTMENT
The old fire house at 1331 FM 1283 is used as a bingo hall every Friday evening, starting at 7 p.m. Snacks are available, prizes are paid, the public is invited, and it is fun for all.
LAKE AND RIVER
On Monday, March 2, Medina Lake is at 74.6 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1052.65 feet, which is down 11.55 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 20.3 cfs in Bandera, running 3.74 feet deep at the gage.
