Two of three local incumbents win another term

As of 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 Bandera County precincts closed their polls with 4,995 ballots cast from 16,272 registered voters.
Two of three incumbents won their seats for another term. Long-time Pct. 2 Constable Ernest Reich lost by 10 votes to Greg Spengler, who just barely peaked the required 50 percent margin avoiding a run-off election.
Pct. 1 County County Commissioner Bruce Eliker took the lead with 597 votes over his opponent Troy Konvicka, who received 369 votes. Pct. 3 County Commissioner Jack Moseley also won another four years with 822 total votes; his challenger Leanne Beauxbeannes received 261 total votes.
All Propositions were supported locally.
In the Democratic Presidential Primary, Joe Biden received 38.72 percent of the total votes; Bernie Sanders received 24.56 percent; Michael Bloomberg received 14.86 percent; and Elizabeth Warren received 10.75 percent.
Locally, Lynn Oliver ran unopposed for Democratic Party county chairman.
In the Republican Primary for U.S. Senator, John Cornyn took a comfortable lead with 77.85 percent of the vote.
Uncontested local positions on the Republican ballot include Janna Lindig for county attorney, Dan Butts for sheriff, Rebekah “Beka” Douglas for county tax assessor/collector, Gina Grothues for Pct. 2 justice of the peace, Phil Tobin for Pct. 1 county constable, Don Walters for Pct. 3 county constable, Rod Chalmers for Pct. 4 county constable and Lynn Haueter for county chairman.
Late ballots may change the total number of votes cast, Election Administrator Gwenda Tshirhart said.
