Book some time at the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
Following the recommendations of the Center of Disease Control and the American Library Association, the Bandera Public Library has made the difficult decision to close to the public. This does not mean that we are completely shut down. We will be operating on a reduced scheduled and with reduced services. Programs and meetings have been canceled until further notice. We have suspended late fees until April 7. Here’s a run down our new operating policies.
Beginning Monday, March 23, the library will offer curbside service. To check out books, you must reserve the titles you want either on our online catalog at www.bandera.biblionix.com/catalog or you can call the library to make your request. Please allow the staff 24 to 48 hours to fulfill your request. When your reserve has been completed, you receive notification either via email, text or phone call. The library will have a table set up by the front entrance (facing the Courthouse) where you can collect your reserve. The staff will have the books and DVDs you requested in a plastic bag with your last name attached to it. Reserves can be picked up from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 - 5 p.m. All returns must go through the book drop so that every thing that is returned can be properly disinfected before being going back into circulation. No staff member will be allowed to take a return from a patron.
As always, you can rely on the library to keep new releases and bestsellers in the collection. You can also feel free to use our Wi-Fi service which reaches out to the entire library parking lot. The network name is Bandera Public Library and the password is Bandera!
If you have ever wanted to try an eBook or digital audiobook, now is the perfect time. Your library account allows you access to thousands of titles via the Libby App. Instructions on how to use the Libby App are on our website www.banderacountylibrary.org or you can call the Library to get more information.
Unfortunately, all printing, copying or faxing services will not be available until further notice.
As a country, we are facing an unprecedented challenge. We remain committed to providing as many services as is possible during this difficult time. This includes providing up-to-date, credible information to the public. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see any updates.
The library is located at 515 Main Street across from the courthouse. Our updated hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you have any questions about this, please call the library at 830-796-4213.
Happy tales, y’all.
